February Newsletter

Pleasant Valley Families,

We hope that the new year has started off well for all of you. We are busy with learning and activities every day here at Pleasant Valley Middle.

Our focus remains to cultivate a positive climate and create the best learning environment possible. High quality instruction and student learning are our highest priorities. Everything that we do at Pleasant Valley is designed to help students learn in all areas and be successful well beyond their time in middle school. Once again, that partnership between school and home is a key ingredient for student success. With that said, we hope that your students are feeling safe and supported. This is an interesting time in their lives and development, and can be challenging at times. If you have questions and or concerns, we want to hear from you.

It is hard to believe that we have passed the half way point of the year. Students are settled in routines and understand our school- wide expectations. Teachers have worked hard to create meaningful learning opportunities and teach school-wide behavior expectations. Consistency and predictability are key factors for student success, as well as a calm learning environment to better focus on learning.

We are excited to share that we are going to recognize our Honor Roll students from this last semester with an assembly. 5th and 6th grade students will have an assembly on March 6th at 9:15 AM, and 7th and 8th grade students will have an assembly on March 13th at 9:15 AM. Students with a GPA of 3.0 and above will receive recognition. We will also honor other areas such as perfect attendance, citizenship and improvement.

A reminder about attendance:  We may only excuse an absence for up to 3 school days after the student returns from an absence.  A parent/guardian may call the absence line (360) 885-5512, or send a note to the office with the student.  Examples of excused absences are in the district handbook.  Absences known ahead of time (such as vacation) must be pre-arranged at least two school days before the absence to be excused.  Please contact the school office to arrange for attendance and school make-up work, (360) 885-5500. Thank you.

We’re fortunate to work with your students every day. Thank you for allowing us to play a role in their development.

Go Patriots!!
